How do I know if I live within the boundaries of Whitby-Oshawa?
Use the detailed description or map available on the district information page. If you do not live within the boundaries, visit the Elections Canada website where you can enter your postal code to search your district.

Who is entitled to vote?
You are entitled to vote in federal elections and referendums if you are a Canadian citizen, and will be 18 or older on polling day. See also section 3 of the Canada Elections Act.

Am I on the list of electors?
If you are registered to vote and Elections Canada has your current address, you should receive a voter information card in the mail between April 8 and April 13. If your name and address are stated correctly, you are registered to vote at the polling place indicated on your card.

If you do not get a voter information card by April 13, if it's incorrect, or if you do not think you are registered, contact Elections Canada to register to vote or update your voter information.

Most electors are already registered in the National Register of Electors (the Register), a database of Canadian electors who are qualified to vote in federal elections and referendums. Elections Canada continually updates the Register using information from income tax forms, citizenship applications, driver's licence records, provincial permanent voters lists, and other information sources. We use the information in the Register to create lists of electors (voters lists)
